George Foreman Grill & Panini Press – Dual-Function Indoor Grill

★★★★★4.8· loved by thousands

We designed this grill to give you two cooking modes in one compact appliance. Switch between classic George Foreman sloped grilling—where fat drains into the removable drip tray—and flat panini press mode for pressed sandwiches, quesadillas, and flatbreads. The dual-position hinge adjusts to thick or thin foods, while nonstick coating on both plates makes cleanup fast.

Why it works
Two cooking surfaces in one compact footprint

We built this model to solve the problem of needing both a contact grill and a panini maker without dedicating cabinet space to two separate appliances. The hinge pivots to either angled-grill position or locked-flat press position, and both modes use the same dual heating elements for consistent results.

Adjustable hinge and floating top plate

The hinge mechanism on this grill adjusts in two ways: it tilts for slope or locks flat for pressing, and it floats up and down to match food thickness. When you close the lid on a thick chicken breast or a stuffed panini, the top plate hovers at the correct height instead of crushing your food.

This floating design also solves the uneven-cooking problem that happens with rigid lids. If one corner of your sandwich is thicker—maybe extra cheese or a double layer of deli meat—the floating hinge maintains contact across the entire surface so every bite gets the same golden crust. We calibrated the spring tension to press firmly enough for grill marks without squeezing out all the filling from a pressed sandwich.

Temperature control and preheat indicators
The details

Temperature control and preheat indicators

We pre-set the temperature to 400°F for both grill and press modes—hot enough to sear proteins and caramelize vegetables, but not so high that bread scorches before cheese melts. Red and green indicator lights on the front handle tell you when the grill is plugged in and when it’s reached cooking temperature, usually within four minutes of turning it on.

There’s no variable temperature dial on this model; we optimized the single preset for the widest range of everyday foods. If you need lower heat for delicate fish or higher heat for thick steaks, explore our classic grills collection where several models include adjustable thermostats. For most panini fillings, breakfast sandwiches, burgers, and boneless chicken, the fixed 400°F setting hits the sweet spot between speed and browning.

Perfect for quick lunches and weeknight dinners
I use the panini press mode almost daily for grilled cheese and turkey sandwiches. The grill marks look restaurant-quality, and everything cooks in under five minutes. The removable plates are a huge time-saver because I can toss them in the dishwasher instead of scrubbing.

Healthier grilling without sacrificing flavor
We switched from pan-frying chicken to using this grill, and I’m surprised how much fat drains off into the tray. The chicken still stays juicy, but we’re not eating all that extra grease. My husband loves that he can also make pressed Cuban sandwiches on the same machine.

Compact and easy to store
I have very limited counter space, so the fact that this does two jobs in one unit is perfect. It heats up fast, and the nonstick coating really works—I barely need any cooking spray. Only wish it had a temperature dial for more control, but the preset works fine for most things I make.

Great for meal prep on Sundays
I grill five chicken breasts at once for my lunches, and the sloped design means I’m not drowning them in their own juices. Cleanup is so simple that I don’t mind using it multiple times a week. The press mode is a nice bonus when I want quesadillas or breakfast sandwiches.

Kids love the panini function
My kids request grilled sandwiches almost every day now. I can press a peanut butter and banana sandwich or a ham and cheese, and they think it’s the coolest thing. The floating hinge means even my overstuffed creations come out evenly toasted.

Solid performer for the price
We’ve had this for six months and use it at least three times a week. The ceramic coating still looks new, and nothing sticks. I dock one star only because the drip tray is a bit small—if you’re cooking very fatty meat, you need to empty it mid-session. Otherwise, no complaints.

Good to know

Common questions about this grill & panini press

Yes, but we recommend thawing proteins first for even cooking. Frozen burgers and chicken will cook through, but the exterior may brown before the center reaches a safe temperature. If you’re in a hurry, add two to three minutes to the cook time and check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer.

Frozen vegetables like bell pepper strips and zucchini slices cook well directly from the freezer—just pat off any ice crystals before placing them on the grill.

Let the grill cool for five minutes, then lift out the plates and soak them in warm soapy water for ten minutes. The ceramic nonstick surface releases most residue with a soft sponge. For stubborn spots, use a paste of baking soda and water—avoid abrasive scrubbers that can damage the coating.

Both plates are dishwasher-safe, so you can also run them through a normal cycle. The drip tray cleans the same way.

Grill mode tilts the plates at a five-degree angle so fat drains into the drip tray, and the top plate rests lightly for grill marks without pressing. Panini press mode locks both plates flat and horizontal, applying firm even pressure from above to compress sandwiches and toast both sides simultaneously.

You switch between modes by adjusting the hinge latch on the side of the unit—no tools needed.

The indicator light turns green after approximately four minutes, signaling the plates have reached 400°F. If you’re cooking in batches, the grill stays hot and you won’t need to preheat again between rounds.

We recommend preheating with the lid closed for fastest results.

The ceramic coating tolerates occasional contact with metal, but we recommend silicone, wood, or nylon utensils to extend the life of the nonstick surface. Repeated scraping with sharp metal edges will eventually wear down any nonstick coating, ceramic or otherwise.

If you already have metal tools, use them gently and avoid dragging the sharp edge across the plates.

The power cord measures thirty inches, which works for most countertop setups. If your outlet is farther away, you can use a grounded extension cord rated for at least 1200 watts. Make sure the cord doesn’t drape over the hot surfaces or the drip tray.

The grill draws approximately 1100 watts at full heat.

This model is designed specifically for grilling and pressing—it doesn’t include waffle plates. If you want waffle capability, explore our removable-plate grill and waffle maker combo, which ships with interchangeable inserts.

You can press French toast and pancakes flat in panini mode for a crispy exterior, though the ridged surface will leave grill marks instead of a smooth waffle grid.
